Junior B Mountaineers to Return in 2024, Under Mimico Minor Lacrosse Club Banner
Mimico Lacrosse is pleased to announce that the club will now oversee the operations of the Junior B Mountaineers franchise, which was previously managed by the Mimico Junior 'A' Lacrosse Club. The Junior B Mountaineers, who took a one-year hiatus in 2023, will continue to be represented in the Ontario Junior ‘B’ Lacrosse League (OJBLL) by the same franchise, however under the operation of the Mimico Minor Lacrosse Club.
“The return of the Junior B Mountaineers will ensure that lacrosse players in Mimico are able to represent the double blue from their first days in minor lacrosse, right through to their final days of junior,” said President Chris Cormier. “We want to ensure as many players coming up through the minor program that want to play junior lacrosse have the opportunity to, whether it be Junior B or Junior A.”
This change in operations will ensure the continuity of the Junior B Mountaineers' legacy while benefiting from the operational support and volunteer base of the Mimico Minor Lacrosse Club. This is the second Junior-Major franchise obtained by the club, who received an expansion franchise in the Women’s Major Series Lacrosse (WMSL) League last year.
