Peanut Lacrosse Free

The Cutest Lacrosse Program on the Planet™

The Mimico Mountaineers introduced free registration for our youngest division in 2018 to help welcome new players and families to the sport. This free program is available to children turning 3 and 4 years old in the current playing year, allowing us to introduce Canada’s national summer sport to several new players and families each season.

Whether your child is interested in box lacrosse or men’s field lacrosse in the future, Soft Lacrosse is where our coaches and volunteers help young athletes learn the game and fall in love with lacrosse. Peanut players will learn how to cradle, trap, scoop, pass, shoot, catch (kind of), and most importantly, how to spell Mimico!

All on-floor parent helpers must be registered as a “Volunteer” prior to participating. There is no cost to register as a volunteer. This is required to ensure all participants are covered under Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) insurance.

Peanut Program FAQs

  • Players turning 3 and 4-years-old in the current playing year are eligible for the free peanut program.

    The Mimico Lacrosse age chart determines the divisions and programs your child will have the opportunity to play and participate in.

  • Registration for this program is free and space in the program is limited. Players will get 8 weeks of lacrosse, and a uniform with registration. New players will get a FREE lacrosse stick. We kindly ask that returning players bring their stick with them.

    NOTE: This program is called Box Soft Lacrosse in the Registration Portal.

  • Start Date: Saturday April 25, 2026

    End Date: Saturday June 27, 2026

    Time: 9:00 AM or 9:35 AM or 10:10 AM or 10:45 AM

  • Players are required to wear a helmet with a face mask. Lacrosse gloves are encouraged. All players get a uniform with registration. New players get a FREE lacrosse stick! We kindly ask that returning players bring their stick with them.

  • Peanut players are scheduled in groups carefully based on their birthday, ensuring they receive appropriate training and socialization with their peers.

    We understand that your time is valuable and that some parents may have preferences for specific group times, we are unable to accommodate these requests due to the fairness and consistency of our scheduling process.

    Sibling requests will always be considered if they meet the age criteria.

Learn the Mimico Cheer with Elmo

You’re never too young to learn how to spell MIMICO!

It’s the first word most Mimico Mountaineers ever learn — and definitely the loudest. The Mimico cheer has been echoing through Mimico Arena for generations.

To help them get it just right, we recruited a little help from everyone’s favourite furry red monster on Sesame Street — so they’ll be spelling (and shouting!) like pros on Day 1.
